The Stanford Saver Program is an initiative began by students in the Stanford University Undergraduate Senate to foster ties between local businesses and Stanford students. The Undergraduate Senate's aim in developing the program was to give Stanford students an incentive to explore off-campus businesses and restaurants. Unfortunately, many students are unable to frequent off-campus establishments because of financial constraints. Our hope is that the Stanford Saver program will alleviate some of the students' concerns with the cost of patronizing businesses off campus and motivate them to explore the diverse array of restaurants and businesses available to them within a short distance of the University.
The program design is quite simple. After agreeing to a certain fixed discount, each business receives a sticker to put in their store window, identifying them to Stanford students as a part of the Stanford Saver Program. To receive a discount, students must show a valid Stanford ID card. Meanwhile, the Undergraduate Senate will distribute cards listing the participating businesses.
